Route: Czestochowa – Mirow – Bobolice – Ogrodzieniec – Pilica – Ojcowski Park Narodowy – Krakow
Arrival to Czestochowa on your own. The city of Czestochowa is very often called as a spiritual capital of Poland, a pilgrimage destination. Visiting the most famous and most important Marian sanctuary in Poland – Jasna Gora, with its Sanctuary of Our Lady of Jasna Gora. It is believed that the miraculous painting of Black Madonna – that is placed in the Paulins monastery – was painted by Luke the Evangelist himself. Pope John Paul II visited that holy place many times, as well as Pope Benedict XVI. After that, transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay in Czestochowa.
breakfast. Departure from Czestochowa to south of Poland. Along the way a short stop at the ruins of castle in Mirow – one of the oldest castle on this trail and region. Visiting the Bobolice Castle with local guide speaking in English or German Castle in Bobolice is former Royal Castle and the main national monument. We will see beautiful interior and exhibition of coins, glassware and metal things, found during archaeological work. Afterwards transfer to Ogrodzieniec. Visiting the biggest castle and the main attraction of region – the ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle built in 14th century. Overnight stay.
breakfast. Leaving Ogrodzieniec behind. Travel to Pilica to see ruins of palace listed on The Eagle Nests Trail. Transfer to Ojcowski National Park – situated just north of Krakow. The wealth of the Ojcowski National Park embraces rich plant and animal life, an unusual landscape made up of canyons up to 120 m deep, and white limestone cliffs containing innumerable caves formed by the eroding action of water. The village of Ojcow, with the ruins of a castle, and nearby Pieskowa Skala Castle are tourist centers located within the park boundary. Overnight stay.
breakfast. Departure from Ojcow and Ojcowski National Park. Travel to Krakow – the second largest city in Poland, the capital of Malopolska region. In the history Krakow was the capital of Poland. The city break starts with a stroll around the Market Square – one of the biggest in Europe, with the famous Cloth Hall (13th century) and Saint Mary’s Church with the Wit Stwosz beautiful gothic altar inside. After that, we will visit Wawel Royal Castle with the Royal Cathedral and Royal Apartments. This is the place of great importance for the Polish people and the state in general. It was the residence of Polish kings, many important historic events took place there. In the Royal Cathedral there is a most known bell in Poland – Zygmunt’s Bell, as well as burial site in the St. Leonard’s crypt with many tombs of kings. Overnight stay.
