Silesia Trip – 7 days

Route: Wrocław – Brzeg – Moszna – Saint Anna Mountain – Zabrze – Katowice – Czestochowa

Day 1

Arrival to Wroclaw – capital city of the Lower Silesia region, situated on the Odra river with many canals. We take a short, introductory walk around the Old Town. After that, half-day excursion trip to Ksiaz – the third largest castle in Poland called „the Pearl of Lower Silesia” and located on an enormous rock cliff. Back to Wroclaw. Overnight stay in Wroclaw.

Day 2

Breakfast. We start our day from guided city tour of Wroclaw.  At first, Ostrow Tumski – the oldest part of the city, then the Main Square with the biggest Town Hall in Poland, Aula Leopoldina and Panorama Raclawicka – a “must-see”, monumental (15 x 114 m) painting, depicting one of the Polish battle from XVIII century. Overnight stay in Wroclaw.

Day 3

breakfast. Departure to Brzeg – sightseeing Piast’s Castle called the „Silesian Wawel”. This Gothic-Renaissance castle of the Silesian Piasts is dated at thirteenth-sixteenth century. The castle (including a chapel) is on the list of international monuments. Departure to Moszna. Visiting one of the most beautiful castles in Poland, which thanks to its numerous towers, peaks, spiers resembles as a Disney castle. Overnight stay.

Day 4

breakfast. Departure to well- known basilica of Saint Anna located on Saint Ann Mountain. The basilica was built on top of a caldera hill which 27 million years ago was a volcano. Then visit to Zabrze – coal mine “Guido”, one of the most popular tourist attractions. The “Railway” shaft (diameter of 4m) is equipped with a “Berlin” hoisting machine from 1927, which transports visitors to the levels 170m and 320m below the ground level. It is worth noting that this is still the original machine from 1927, subject to ongoing maintenance only. Afterwards, we will visit Nikiszowiec – a unique settlement built for miners, Wilson Shaft Gallery and Giszowiec – colony of the “Giesche” and „garden town”.  Overnight stay in Katowice.

Day 5

breakfast and drive to Czestochowa – the most important pilgrimage place in Poland, and one of the most famous in the Europe. The city of Czestochowa is very often called as a spiritual capital of our country. Visiting the monastery of Our Lady of Jasna Gora with miraculous image of Black Madonna. There is a legend saying, that the icon was painted by Luke the Evangelist himself. Pope John Paul II visited that saint place many times, as well as Pope Benedict XVI. After that, transfer to hotel and accommodation. Overnight stay.

Day 6

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
