Route: Torun – Frombork –  Lidzbark Warminski – Olsztyn

 

Day 1

arrival to Torun – the beautiful city in Northern Poland. City is related to Nicolaus Copernicus, the great Polish astronomer from the renaissance, who was born here in 15th-century. The historical architectural structure of Torun have been listed on UNESCO World Heritage List. After accommodation, visiting the Living Museum of Gingerbread – tradition of baking gingerbreads in Torun reaches the medieval times. Free time for shopping, leisure or stroll around the city on your own. Overnight stay in Torun.

Day 2:

breakfast. All day sightseeing the Torun with your local guide. Visiting the Copernicus’ House – museum in building with wooden ceiling and ornamented walls showing the life of Copernicus. Next, visiting the Old Town and the Old Town Hall – one of the largest gothic building made of bricks, the Leaning Tower (from the outside) and the ruins of former Teutonic Knights Castle, the Bridge Gate (from the outside). During the stroll around Old Town we will see St. Jame’s Church and the Gothic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist (building of Cathedral and Tower). Afterwards walking tour of Filadelfijski Boulevard along the Vistula River and enjoying the beautiful view. Overnight stay in Torun.

Day 3:

after breakfast departure from Torun to Frombork. Nicolaus Copernicus lived almost half of his life, worked and died in Frombork. Here he wrote the famous work „De Revolutionibus”. The city tour starts with visiting the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Andrew the Apostle – one of the oldest church in Frombork, the grave of Nicholas Copernicus and the former Episcopal Palace – the Museum of Nicolaus Copernicus with exhibition of astronomical equipments from Middle Ages. Next stroll around the marketplace, related to famous astronomer and Copernicus Tower – one of the oldest building in city. Overnight stay in Frombork.

Day 4:

breakfast. Departure from Frombork to Lidzbark Warminski located in Warmia region in the North-Eastern Poland. In the program of day visiting: the gothic Castle (interior, courtyard, cellar) – the great example of defensive medieval architecture listed on the Trail of Gothic castles in Poland, the High Gate and the Church of St. Peter and Paul from the 14th century. Free time for leisure, shopping or walking around the city on your own. Transfer to Olsztyn – the capital of Warmia and Masuria region. Overnight stay in Olsztyn.

Day 5:

breakfast. The city tour of Olsztyn, where Nicolaus Copernicus was living. During the day visiting the  Teutonic Knights Castle – listed on the Trail of Gothic castles in Poland. Enjoying the view of city from the Castle’s Tower. Next we will see the City Gate (from the outside) – medieval part of defensive walls of Olsztyn, former prison in 19th century and hotel in present day. Visiting the Cathedral of St. Jacob build at the end of 14thn century and the Old Town Hall build in gothic architectural style – nowadays the main building of library. Overnight stay in Olsztyn.

 

 

Day 6:

breakfast. Departure from Olsztyn to your country on your own. The end of tour titled „The Cities of Nicolaus Copernicus”.
