our city break starts with a stroll around the Old Town – fully reconstructed after WW2, placed in UNESCO World Heritage List as a fine example of a full reconstruction with some authentic fragments. Visiting the Royal Castle – the symbol of Polish statehood, with its history dating back to the 13th century, where many important historic events took place. After that, a visit to the Łazienki Park – one of the most beautiful parks in Europe. During a short, relaxing walk, we can see there the most famous building of the complex, the monumental Palace on the Water (which was the private residence of the Polish kings), and Chopin’s statue. Overnight stay.
breakfast. We start the day at the Palace of Culture and Science – a gift from our former „friend”, the Soviet Union. We can see the magnificent view of the city from the terrace located on the 30th floor of the highest building in Poland. After that, we take the direction onto the Royal Route – a former communication route with many historic landmarks, that leads southwards from the city’s Old Town to the Wilanow Palace sometimes called the “small Verssailes”, surrounded by a beautiful park with a variety of landscapes. The palace itself, built in the 17th century, is a repository of the country’s royal and artistic heritage.
